Though Shoto began the story as a cold, focused and unemotional protagonist, we have seen him adapt over time to become more sociable. Seen in season 1 when he slowly gains his sense of humour and smiling once in a while. We then go further to his battle with Izuku, where Izuku's speech reminds him of the kind words his mother once said to him. This caused him to use his fire half, the side he would never use.
